My name is Helen Jewsbury and I am fortunate enough to live in one of the most beautiful areas of

Kent with my lurcher Rosie.

I have always enjoyed being creative, and loved art at school. When I told my parents I wanted to

go to art college, they were not at all keen and so persuaded me to apply for nurse training. I had a

fantastic 45 year career as a nurse, specialising in the exciting world of accident and emergency

nursing. All the way through that career I continued with my love of art, painting wall murals in my

childrens bedrooms, creating 3d art from papier mache, and then in the 2000's I discovered clay!

From the moment I went to my first class I knew I had met the medium for me. I went to a class

every week for a few years, then I bought my own kiln , and when I retired in 2018, I was able to

indulge in my passion for clay full time.

My influences are humour, seaside postcards, comic books and nature. I love to share my

knowledge with others, I have exhibited with the Kent potters at art in Clay, hatfield and Farnham,

and over the last 10 years have sold at markets, and shops within Kent and Sussex. I am so lucky to

be doing what I love every day, and I hope that my work makes others smile.
